Our pack (Scouts of all ages together) meets once a month, on the first Thursday at 6:30-7:30pm of each month. Pack meetings are held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church - Fellowship Hall (Basement), 112 N Main St, Pearl River, NY.
Scouts also meet with their den (children of the same age) once a month for an hour at Good Shepherd as well, unless otherwise specified.
The pack and dens will often have meetings outdoors and at other community locations for Scouts to have experiences beyond the standard meeting hall.
We also have one pack activity a month that could be Pinewood Derby, camping, caroling, watching a movie or sporting event, visiting the astronomy center or even a museum.
When you're ready to join the pack, you can submit an online application. There you'll provide all of your information and pay your annual national and council dues. We will collect your annual pack dues separately.
Cub Scouting is for boys and girls in kindergarten through fifth grade (5 to 10 years of age). Boys and girls who are older than 10 (or who have completed the fifth grade) can no longer join Cub Scouts, but they are eligible to join a Scouts BSA Troop.
In Pack 2036, we take your child's safety seriously. We follow Scouting America's Guide to Safe Scouting and Barriers to Abuse at all times to ensure we have fun in a way that keeps kids safe. All of our registered leaders are background-checked and remain current with Scouting's Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT).
Cub scouts is not a drop-off activity. Parents are always present and should not leave their child unattended. One-on-one contact between adult leaders and youth members is prohibited both inside and outside of Scouting.
Two registered adult leaders 21 years of age or over are required at all Scouting activities, including all meetings. There must be a registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over in every unit serving females. A registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over must be present for any activity involving female youth or female adult program participants.
In order to best protect our Scouts and keep them safe, we ask all participating adults to complete the online SYT course. Proof of training or refresher within the last year is required for any adults attending overnight events.
Every year Scouts complete personal safety exercises with their parent or guardian to help them keep themselves safe. Scouts also watch, with their parent's permission, the Protect Yourself Rules video to fulfill a requirement of the required Personal Safety Adventure. These activities create an opportunity to speak with your youth about important and possibly difficult subjects that may not come up in normal conversation.
A whole year of Cub Scouts costs less than a single season of most sports. But unlike most sports and other after-school activities, there are ways to defray the costs of Scouting such as fundraising. Assistance is also available if you need help.

Some of the best things about Cub Scouting are the activities Scouts get to do: camping, hiking, racing model cars, going on field trips, or doing projects that help our community and the people who live here. Cub Scouting means "doing." All our activities are designed to have the Scouts doing something--and by "doing" they learn some very valuable life lessons.
Our Pack is active year-round. We encourage new Scouts to join us in the late spring, summer, or early fall. Please email cubmaster@pearlriver2036.mypack.us at any time for more information.
To prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Yes! This is not a drop-off program. It is an opportunity for the entire family to spend quality time together.
Cub Scouting can teach your child a wholesome system of values and beliefs while building and strengthening relationships among family members. Scouting gives you a fantastic platform to equip your child. We provide other mentors to help your child grow but you are always an important part of their development in Scouting. Of course, as a volunteer-run organization, there are always opportunities (both large and small) for you to improve your child's Scouting experience.
Scouts are grouped into dens (children of the same age), led by a volunteer Den Leader. Several dens of different ages come together to make up the pack, led by the volunteer Cubmaster and pack committee.
Our pack is part of the Rockland District, made up of all Scouting units in and around Rockland County. Our district is in turn part of the larger Greater Hudson Valley Council (GHV). Our District and Council organize events for Scouting units across our area--like larger campouts, derbies, and summer camps.
Activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting—citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness. Many of the activities happen in the den (with children in the same grade) or with the entire pack (with all the grade levels). Our Scouts have outings and plenty of outdoor and indoor activities to help them achieve goals.
At a minimum, each child in Cub Scouting will need a uniform. Each year, the handbook changes, as does the cap and neckerchief, but other uniform parts remain the same for several years.
At fifth grade, Scouts change to a tan and green uniform that they will wear through the rest of their time in Scouting.
Simple camping equiptment can be a tent ($60-200), sleeping bag ($25–$60) or thick blankets, sleeping pad ($15–$40) or airmattress, and a flashlight or headlamp ($5–$20).
